Agia Marina
Agia Marina is located on the popular Chania coast, where the holiday resorts lie side by side. Chania is 9-10 km away and the holiday resort of Platanias is just 2 km away.
Agia Marina beach
Agia Marina has one long beach that starts at the small port of Platanias and ends in the neighbouring town of Kato Stalos. A total of 3 kilometres of beach covered in golden sand.
There are many sections with sunbeds and parasols available for hire. There are also showers to rinse the salt water off your body. During the summer, a lifeguard keeps an eye on bathers.
Just south of the small island of Agioi Theodoroi is the northernmost point of the beach. From here and a few hundred metres to the east, many young people gather and there is more life and music on this stretch.
Child-friendliness
There is always room to play on the beach and the water is shallow and usually calm. All in all, the beach in Agia Marina is very child-friendly.
Water sports activities
For the adventurous, there are many water sports activities, including jet skis, parasailing and banana boats. Rentals are available just east of the northern tip of the beach.
Restaurants
There are many cafés and restaurants along the beach and it is also possible to buy food to take away. One of the most popular beach restaurants is Gorgona Beach Bar/Restaurant, which also has a nice mini golf course and playground in the garden behind the restaurant.
Agia Marina holiday resort
Agia Marina was originally a small, cosy fishing village and some of the old Greek atmosphere can still be found in the old town. Now Agia Marina is mostly a holiday resort with restaurants, cafés and tourist shops. A good tip is the Horiatiko taverna restaurant, which serves delicious Greek specialities.
Hotels are scattered throughout the town. One of the best hotels in Agia Marina is Theo Hotel, located in a quiet area with only 200 metres to the beach. The the award winning hotel has a large swimming pool, separate children’s pool and even a beautiful indoor pool.
Just 1 kilometre north of Agia Marina is the small island of Agioi Theodoroi, which is a nature reserve for the mountain goat Kri-Kri. From the harbour in Platanias there are daily boats to Agioi Theodoroi, a beautiful and pleasant trip for the whole family.
Another popular spot for the whole family is the Limnoupolis water park, which is less than 10 kilometres away. This trip is easily done in either a hired car or a taxi. In Limnoupolis, there are plenty of activities for a full day.

Agia Marina map
Agia Marina has grown together with the larger holiday resort of Platanias to the west and the slightly smaller holiday resort of Kato Stalos to the east. A little to the south is Pano Agia Marina, which is the original part of the town.
